Here’s to the Dads

Here’s to all the dad’s out there who have made us all the people we are today.  I know Ash and I are super lucky to have a fabulous dad in our lives and to have fabulous dads for our babies now that we’re grown.   It’s amazing how much a dad can build you into the person you are and what minute silly details make the most difference in your life.  So in honor of Father’s Day I thought I’d share my favorite memory of my dad (well among many but this one just showed he cared).

Remember in high school when it was someones birthday and they got called to the principals office for a special birthday delivery? Everyone would be so intrigued by what they’d walk back through the doors to the classroom holding and awed by how many people loved them!  Not everyone was lucky enough to have parents that would deliver something special on their birthdays but my dad would always make at least one delivery for us during the day.  When we returned from the office it was always with a bouquet of roses in our twin colors – purple for me and pink for Ashley.  I’m not sure why this sticks in my mind so clearly as a favorite memory of my dad but I think it’s because it really set the bar for the men I would date in the future.  We were taught from a young age that it was the thoughtful gifts that made a difference, not necessarily the expensive ones.  You know, that perfect gift that shows the person really knows you?  I think that’s what those flowers always symbolized, that Dad had known us from the very beginning when we dressed in all pink and purple and he still loved us regardless of our poor fashion sense.  It was an “inside” gift and it always meant the world to me.

We love you Dad!

Featured Etsy Shop: Scissor Mill

We were so in love with these customizable beer mugs for our Father’s Day giveaway that we had to write Sara from Scissor Mill and see if she’d donate one.  Lucky for our giveaway winner, Sara agreed and a custom mug is now going to one lucky dad ;)

If you missed out on the giveaway don’t worry you can still get your custom pieces from Scissor Mill for all sorts of other occasions!  For example, if you’re having a wedding this summer why don’t you get your groomsmen personalized beer mugs:

Customize beer mugs with the names of your groomsmen.

Or if you’re attending a baby shower and want to spoil the mom or dad instead of getting yetanother burp cloth that they may not even use why not go for these “mom & dad” glasses (or even celebrating a baby coming into the world):

So cute for parents-to-be!

This keep calm and mother on wine glass would also be perfect for your moms birthday or a mother-to-be:

We got so many comments on this for the Father’s Day giveaway as a favorite item from Scissor Mill, I just had to include it!

I kinda love these customized baking dishes (I will never lose another casserole dish at a potluck again and since my large casserole dish has gone MIA since the last potluck I attended I’m seriously considering this cute owl):

No one will be mistaking this casserole for their own!

Sara designs and applies the etching by hand so each piece is really unique!  We hope you go and support her shop for your next unique occasion too!

Featured Etsy Shop: Pop Tag

You know what we love about the Pop Tag etsy shop?  He found something he’s good and and just stuck with a couple of successful products (the business model we’re striving for too!).  Nate’s very favorite item from this years Father’s Day giveaway was this cool personalized bottle opener key chain.  In Nate’s words, “that’s f***ing cool”.  Um . . . yeah, we agree!

Order the traditional “We love dad” or customize it with some inside joke that only you and your dad get!

It can read, “WORLDS BEST DAD” or ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D LIKE INSTEAD – a name, quote, sports team, a lyric, etc.  That’s the thing that’s most fun – you can choose some quote that is special to you and your dad/husband.

Plus, you can choose any of these colored rubber bumpers to go with it.

We opted for the cool black one for our giveaway. (Red, Black, Blue, Pink, or Purple).

Since Nate and I are planning a wedding, I kinda loved the idea of these bottle openers for a wedding gift with some quote that’s special to the bride and groom (even just “his” and “hers”).  This would be perfect for our camping wedding BBQ!  Plus as a necklace I’d never loose it the whole night ;)

Stamped Bottle Opener Necklace Pair

Ryan is super speedy at shipping too!  We had our giveaway bottle opener at the house within two days so there’s still plenty of time to go to Pop Tag and order one for Father’s Day!

Featured Esty Shop: Revolution46

With Father’s Day around the corner if you’re still scratching your head over the perfect gift for dad maybe you should go and check out REVOLUTION46.  Their t-shirts have a fabulous retro hipster vibe happening!  And they’ve graciously donated the above t-shirt for all those super dads in your life for our Beer & BBQ Father’s Day Giveaway (of course if you don’t win you can always just purchase one of these gems yourself).  While you’re shopping for dad you may want to check out some of their other creations – I’m a fan of the brother sets (even though I personally only have one girl).

Like these Retro Robot Big Bro & Lil’ Bro Shirts:

Love the mohawk!! These kids are hipster with a capital H!

Or the Big Brother Vintage Airplane Shirt:

Wright Brother’s eat your heart out :)

But if you were attracted to this post because of the cool super hero logo from the Father’s Day giveaway then never fear . . . other super hero shirts are here (oh no, even I recognize that as being a horrible reference . . . fail?).

These batman shirts would be so cool for a super hero themed birthday party!

If you’re in love with the Father’s Day Super Hero shirt but want it for your little man – no prob, they have that too:

I particularly like the ones with the numbers in the middle for how hold your little one is. So cute and what a good way to do a yearly photo op for a boy :)

Joe and Frannie run the shop and they’ve told us, “Everyday is a new journey when you are creating! We believe our designs are a source of immediate delight and lasting pleasure.”  We think these gifts will give so many fathers a super happy Father’s Day and heartily agree that giftees will look back fondly on receiving one of Joe and Frannie’s unique shirts.  We hope you go support custom and hand made through visiting their shop!
